The BMW X4 (internal designation G02 ) and X4 M (internal designation F98 ) is a crossover SUV offered by the German automobile manufacturer BMW since 2018 and the successor to the BMW F26 built between 2014 and 2018 . Compared to this, the G02 grows in length and width. It is technically related to the BMW G01 .
history
The new X4 was presented on February 14, 2018. The vehicle had its formal public premiere at the 88th Geneva Motor Show in March 2018. In the same month, series production began at the BMW Spartanburg plant . The first vehicles were delivered in July 2018.
Based on the G02 presented Alpina also the 2018 at the Geneva Motor Show XD4 .
The X4 M was presented in February 2019, the public premiere took place in April 2019 at Auto Shanghai 2019 and the market launch took place in September 2019.
Equipment
An air ionization system with a function for influencing the interior fragrance ( fragrance organ , BMW designation "Ambient Air Package") is available for the G02 and is placed in the glove compartment.

Technically, the X4 second generation builds like the BMW G01 on the CLAR - platform on.
Powertrain
All models are equipped with xDrive all-wheel drive and an 8- speed automatic transmission as standard .
Engines
For the first time, a diesel variant from BMW M GmbH is available in the X4 with the M40d .
The Alpina XD4 is powered by a diesel engine with a maximum output of 285 kW (388 PS).
The X4 M has also been available since September 2019, the newly developed three-liter in-line six-cylinder engine with a maximum output of 353 kW (480 PS) or, with the Competition Package, a maximum of 375 kW (510 PS).

Due to the same technical basis, the crash test rating of the G01 carried out in 2017 with the BMW were Euro NCAP - Crash tests transferred out of five stars on the BMW G02.
