BMW US Manufacturing Company, LLC is a US automobile manufacturer and a subsidiary of BMW AG . Production began on July 11, 1994.

Factory data

It currently employs around 10,000 people who produce around 1,400 vehicles a day. In 2016, the plant employed 8,800 workers and produced 405,000 cars. The plant was the largest production facility for German automakers in the USA.

Several manufacturer codes are and have been used within the vehicle identification number , for example 4US and 5UX , but also 5UM and 5YM . The letter L is used in the eleventh position to identify the assembly plant .

Models

The first vehicle produced was a BMW 318i .

From 1995 to 2002 the BMW Z3 was produced in 297,087 copies.

The BMW X3 , X4 , X5 , X6 and X7 models are currently in production .
