The BMW X7 (internal name: G07 ) is a sport utility vehicle from the German car manufacturer BMW , which has been available since March 2019.

history

At the International Motor Show in Frankfurt am Main in September 2017 , BMW provided a first look at a sports utility vehicle positioned above the BMW X5 and BMW X6 with the BMW X7 Concept iPerformance . This concept vehicle has a hybrid drive , i.e. an electric and a gasoline engine. The series vehicles, however, are not such hybrid vehicles, but are powered exclusively by internal combustion engines.

On October 17, 2018, BMW presented the production vehicle, which has since been available to order and has been delivered since March 2019. The formal public premiere took place at the 2018 LA Auto Show .

On the BMW Motorrad days in early July 2019, BMW presented in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , the piece X7 Pick-up Concept .

At the end of July 2020, the special edition Dark Shadow , limited to 500 copies, was presented. It is characterized by a dark color.

Competitive models include the Audi Q7 and the Mercedes-Benz GLS .

Furnishing

The grille of the BMW model is the second largest after that of the 7-series G11 / G12 facelift model.

The car has an electrically operated panoramic roof and seven seats as standard. On request, two individual seats are available instead of a rear bench seat for three people in the second row and also a separate temperature control for the third row of seats.

technology

The SUV is based, like the BMW G30 and BMW G05 on the CLAR - platform . Like the X5, the X7 has a two-part tailgate.

drive

At its market launch in March 2019, the SUV with a 3.0-liter R6 has a gasoline engine of the motor series BMW B58 with a maximum output of 250 kW (340 hp) and a 3.0-liter R6 diesel engine series BMW B57 with 195 kW (265 PS) (xDrive30d or in Japan xDrive35d) or 294 kW (400 PS) maximum power offered. In August 2019, the 4.4-l V8 gasoline engine was also available in a more powerful version in the M-Performance model M50i with a maximum of 390 kW (530 PS). Outside Europe, this BMW N63 engine is still available as a weaker version with a maximum of 340 kW (462 hp). All variants have all-wheel drive and an 8-speed automatic transmission .

landing gear

The front wheels of the X7 are individually suspended on double wishbones , a multi-link axle is installed at the rear . The rear axle can also be steered at an additional cost . The air suspension regulates the pressure in the spring element of each wheel individually and adapts to the load condition. The X7 lowers to get in.

production

For most sales countries , the vehicle, like the BMW G05, is assembled by the BMW US Manufacturing Company . In India, however, the diesel engine-powered model xDrive30d will be delivered as a CKD kit and the vehicle will be completed locally at the BMW plant in Chennai; The xDrive40i model, powered by a gasoline engine, was initially imported as a complete vehicle and later converted to CKD kits.

BMW X7 Pick-up Concept

Twelve of the manufacturer's apprentices converted a development vehicle into a pick-up with a 1.4-meter-long loading area. The street-legal vehicle is powered by the three-liter gasoline engine familiar from the xDrive40i .
