BMW Vision ConnectedDrive
The BMW Vision ConnectedDrive is a concept vehicle that was developed by the German automobile and motorcycle manufacturer BMW and celebrated its world premiere in 2011 at the Geneva Motor Show . Series production is not planned for this concept vehicle.
concept
The BMW Vision ConnectedDrive is a design study that aims to give the current state of research on future technologies in the field of connected driving a face. In addition to innovative display and operating concepts, the focus is on the flow of information between driver, vehicle and the environment.
design
In contrast to the BMW Vision Efficient Dynamics , Adrian van Hooydonk's team of designers opted for an open roadster concept. The design comes from Juliane Blasi.
Exterior
When it comes to the exterior of the Vision ConnectedDrive, it is noticeable that you can find design elements from the Z1 , such as the retractable doors, in addition to the current BMW design language . In addition to the unmistakable roadster proportions such as the long bonnet and the passenger cell, which is set far back, the sporty character is to be underlined by a flat silhouette and 20-inch rims.
The lighting that can be found both in the exterior and in the interior is particularly striking. Starting from the "Cone of Vision" up to the rear end, the driver (and also the front passenger) is surrounded by light guides that light up either red, blue or green. Sensors are built into the front and rear lights that permanently monitor the surroundings and communicate with other vehicles. The driver is to be warned of possible dangerous situations.
interior
In this vision, BMW clearly focuses on the driver. This is how the vehicle and the functions for the driver and front passenger were designed. Another special feature is the so-called "layer design". In the Vision ConnectedDrive, the interior is divided into the three levels of comfort, infotainment and safety. This structure was not arbitrary, but rather is intended to represent a topic area of BMW ConnectedDrive. The light guides underline this with the colors green (comfort), blue (infotainment) and orange (safety). In addition to freely programmable display elements and a head-up display, there is also a touchscreen for the front passenger that provides information appropriate to the situation and the environment. BMW calls this concept "Emotional Browser".
technology
Sensors attached to the vehicle enable the vehicle to communicate with its surroundings. Functions such as micronavigation or the “Emotional Browser”, which is based on location-based services , show what driving a car might look like in the future. In addition, the integration of smartphones and the Internet in the vehicle play an important role.
