The D-10T is a 100 mm Soviet tank gun. It is the main weapon of the T-54 and T-55 medium tanks .

development

The D-10 was developed in 1943 at Uralmasch by the designer FF Petrow as armament for tank destroyers and future medium tanks from the B-34 naval cannon. Both variants are distinguished by the suffix (T for tank = tank and S = self-propelled gun ). The technical differences are minor and are mainly limited to the closure.

In the course of time the cannon was improved again and again and u. a. equipped with a smoke extractor and various stabilizers. The penetration performance of the D-10 could be increased by the development of new types of ammunition and the introduction of tubular rockets from about 150 mm RHA to 600–850 mm RHA.
