The Edo Tokyo Museum ( Japanese 江 戸 東京 博物館 , Edo Tōkyō Hakubutsukan ) is a 1992 founded museum for the history of Tokyo in the Yokoami district of Sumida .

The permanent exhibition includes a reconstruction of the Nihonbashi , the bridge that is traditionally the starting point for all roads in Japan, as well as numerous models of the city and replicas of houses from the Edo , Meiji and Shōwa periods .

The building is reminiscent of the architecture of old warehouses and is in the immediate vicinity of the Ryōgoku Hall ( Ryōgoku Kokugikan ) and the Ryōgoku train station .
