Kylie Jayne Palmer (born February 25, 1990 in Brisbane ) is an Australian freestyle swimmer .
Career
Kylie Palmer has been participating in major international events for Australia since the 2006 Commonwealth Games . There she finished fifth on the 400 m freestyle course. During her first World Championships in Melbourne in 2007 , she reached the 800 m freestyle final and was eighth and last. Palmer made his final breakthrough at the 2008 Short Course World Championships in Manchester . She won the 200m and 400m freestyle and came second in the 800m. She won the fourth medal in third place with the 4 × 200m freestyle relay.
At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing , the young Australian competed over two courses. With Stephanie Rice , Bronte Barratt and Linda Mackenzie in the 4 × 200m freestyle relay, she won the gold medal on August 14 with a world record time of 7: 44.31 minutes, ahead of the favored relays from China and the USA. She was in third position fastest swimmer in Australia and handed over with a lead of 3.14 seconds.
With 8: 14.11 minutes, Palmer set a Commonwealth record over 800 meters at the Australian Short Course Championships in 2008. At the Commonwealth Games 2010 in New Delhi , she won the gold medal in the 200 m freestyle and with the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay as well as the silver medal in the 400 m freestyle.
In June 2015 she was suspended and removed from the Australian team for the World Championships because she had already tested positive for furosemide during a doping control at the 2013 World Championships . She denied the allegation. After the World Cup, Palmer was warned by FINA .
