Maya DiRado (born April 5, 1993 in Santa Rosa , California ) is an American swimmer . She won four medals at the 2016 Olympic Games , including a gold medal in the 200m backstroke discipline and a gold medal in the 4 x 200m freestyle relay.

Career

At the Summer Universiade 2011 , the DiRado won the gold medal in the 400 m medley.

At her first World Swimming Championships in 2013, DiRado won a gold medal in the 4 x 200 m freestyle relay by participating in the heats. Two years later DiRado won the silver medal in the 400 m individual medal at the world championships . In the individual medley competition over 200 m, she came fourth.

She won four medals at the 2016 Olympic Games : gold in 200 m backstroke, silver in 400 m medley and bronze in 200 m medley in individual competitions. The 4 x 200 m freestyle relay won the gold medal. After the Olympics, DiRado announced the end of her professional swimming career.
