Lindsay Benko (born November 29, 1976 in Elkhart , Indiana ) is a former American swimmer and two-time Olympic champion .

Career

At the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney , she won the gold medal in the 4 × 200 m freestyle with the US swimming relay. Four years later at the Summer Olympics in Athens , she was able to repeat the success in the 4 × 200 m freestyle with the relay and also win the silver medal in the 4 × 100 m freestyle.

At the 2003 World Swimming Championships in Barcelona , she won three medals (two golds and one silver) and was able to improve the US record in the 200 m freestyle.

Benko graduated from the University of Southern California and won numerous NCAA degrees in college sports. She married Canadian swimmer Mike Mintenko in 2005 .
