German short course championships 2018
The International German Short Course Championships in 2018 in swimming were from 13 to 16 December 2018 for the third consecutive time in the swimming and diving center in Europasportpark Berlin instead. The organizer and host was the German Swimming Association . In addition to six relay competitions, 18 individual titles were awarded for men and women. With three titles each, Nadine Laemmler , Alexander Kunert and David Thomasberger were the most successful athletes of this championship. Coinciding with the German Short Course Championships were held in Chinese Hangzhou the Short Course World Championships with 15 DSV athletes - eight women and seven men instead.
Attendees
The 100 fastest swimmers on the "Open Class Best List" of the DSV and the 30 fastest athletes on the DSV's "Junior Best List" (Jg99 / 00w and Jg98 / 99m) who reached the qualification times in advance were eligible to start on the individual courses. The qualification period ran from December 18, 2017 to November 25, 2018. For German athletes with the right to start for foreign clubs or foreign swimmers, the period was from December 18, 2017 to November 4, 2018.
In the relays, the 100 fastest teams were allowed to start per competition route, with the field of participants being limited to 50 relays.
471 swimmers from 153 clubs were registered for 1396 individual starts and 190 relays. With 23 active members, SG Essen had the largest national team. Four participants from abroad competed, two each from Slovakia and the United States .
