SSG Leipzig

The Swimming Start Community Leipzig (SSG Leipzig) is a combination of several swimming sports clubs in Leipzig .

On September 25th, 2008 the swimming clubs SC DHfK Leipzig , Lok Leipzig, SV Handwerk, SSV Leutzsch, Vesch eV and the Postschwimmverein Leipzig eV founded the swimming start community Leipzig. With the establishment of an SSG Leipzig, all squad athletes from D-squad status start together for Leipzig for the first time.

The main objective of SSG Leipzig is to target today's young talents for the international competition highlights of the juniors ( European Youth Olympic Festival 2011, Junior European Championship 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012) up to the adults ( Swimming World Championships 2011, Swimming European Championships 2010, 2012, Olympic Games 2012).

SSG Leipzig made its first successful national appearances at the German Short Course Championships 2008 in Essen as well as at the German Junior Championships in Hamburg and the German Swimming Championships .

  • 2013: 11th place (women); 11th place (men); both teams relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga.
