Margin notes
In a record attempt in the context of the short course championships, the SG Essen set a German record in 1: 48.50 over the rarely swum 4 × 50 m chest. For this, Mark Warnecke was persuaded to make a short comeback, who, as a starting swimmer, set a new personal best in 27.42 seconds due to the new high-tech suits.
In two further record attempts, the men's relay of SV Würzburg 05 (3: 37.71 over 4 × 100 m freestyle) and SG Frankfurt (1: 40.46 over 4 × 50 m back) also set German records.
Based on the results achieved, 33 athletes were nominated for the European Short Course on November 30th.
