The swimming club Wiesbaden 1911 e. V. ( SCW ) was founded in 1911 and consisted of many different departments ( swimming , water polo , canoeing , camping , tobogganing , skiing , table tennis , sailing , motor yacht , water skiing , carnival ). Today the association is divided into 5 departments; Swimming, water polo, triathlon , yacht / canoe / sailing and camping.

history

SC Wiesbaden 1911 has been successful nationally and internationally in the junior area of ​​swimming for several decades and is represented with both teams in the 1st Bundesliga. Many international world athletes, such as Anthony Ervin or Jenna Laukkanen , are now closely associated with the SCW and participate in joint training camps.

In 2008, the men's team won the German team championships in swimming and became champions in the 1st Bundesliga. In 2020 the women became German runners-up.

On the occasion of the historical swimming history of the Meeuw family ( Folkert , Jutta and Helge Meeuw ), the club launched the “Meeuw Cup” in their honor in 2017, which is held annually in autumn. In 2020, the swimming club hosted the 1st Bundesliga and introduced a live stream for this event for the first time. The audience record, which had been 13,000 until then, was also exceeded here.

Trainer

Oliver Grossmann has been the head coach of the swimming club since 2001 . Before that he stood at the edge of the pool at SG EWR Rheinhessen. In addition, he is the base trainer of the DSV base Rhein-Main and works for the talent promotion group of the state of Hesse. Grossmann himself was a competitive athlete for a long time and was able to win the world championship title twice in aquathlon.
