The Würzburg 05 swimming club , or SVW 05 for short , is a German water sports club. The club, founded in 1905 , is one of the largest swimming clubs in Germany and one of the largest in Europe . In 1968 SVW 05 built the first indoor swimming pool (25 m pool) in Germany. In 1972 another 50 m indoor sports swimming pool was built, which was expanded to include a fitness and sauna area in the following years.

In addition to his core sports, there are triathlon , synchronized swimming , running and fitness departments.

Since their founding in 1905, the "zero fives" have produced a large number of Olympic participants in swimming and water polo . The club is a five-time German water polo champion .

The figurehead was Thomas Lurz , ten-time world champion in open water swimming and bronze medal winner at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing over ten kilometers. He resigned from active sport on May 1, 2015 and has been President of SV Würzburg 05 since January 2016.
