The 2019/20 season of the German Water Polo League began on September 28, 2019 and is expected to end in June 2020.
mode
The games of the main round are played back and forth. This is followed by a championship and a relegation phase.
Main round
The game is played in two groups (Pro) in a simple round with a return leg. In Pro A, which includes the best eight teams from the previous season, the first two qualify directly for the play-off semi- finals. The teams in places three to six play off the other two participants for the play-off semi-finals. The two bottom of the table of Pro A and the four best teams of Pro B play the two participants for the Pro A of the 2019/20 season in a relegation round (ten game days). The teams in positions five to eight of the Pro B must compete against each other in a relegation round in which the previous results are adopted.
