The 2006/07 season of the German Water Polo League began on October 28, 2006 with the preliminary round and ended with winning the championship of Wasserfreunde Spandau 04 in the final over ASC Duisburg . The record champions from Spandau secured their 27th title since 1979. SV Blau-Weiß Bochum was relegated to the 2nd water polo league .

mode

The games were played according to the round system with preliminary round, main round and qualifying round (each with a first and second leg) as well as championship round ( play-off final round) and relegation round ( play-down final round) from the end of October 2006 to the beginning of June 2007.

Preliminary round

The game was played in four groups of four teams in a simple round with a return leg. The first two in each group qualified for the championship round and the rest went on to the promotion round.

(**) The relegated Brandenburgers remained in the league for the time being due to the forced relegation of the Free Swimmers Hanover. After the Hanover class retained at the Kassel regional court, Brandenburg was also granted league maintenance. Thus, seventeen teams started in the following season.
