Hellas 1899 Hildesheim is a Hildesheim sports club that specializes in water polo and swimming training for children.

history

The "Hellas-1899" emerged in 1970 from the merger of the Hildesheim swimming club in 1899 and the SSK Hellas Hildesheim, founded in 1919.

The focus, including the clubs of origin, has always been swimming and water polo. Since the late 1970s with an increasing focus on water polo. Training facilities are the Hildesheim outdoor pool Johanniswiese and the indoor pool "Wasserparadies", until 1989 the "Kaiserhalle".

Frauke Oppelt-Brager has been the chairwoman of the association since 2004. The name according to the statutes is Hildesheimer Schwimm-Club Hellas-1899 e. V. The number of members has been constant at around 300 since the 1990s. The peak was almost 1200 members in the early 1970s. The Hellas-1899 is now known nationwide for its offspring in water polo and became a federal junior base here in 2006. In 2006 he was promoted to the 1st Bundesliga of the German Water Polo League , followed by relegation in 2008.

  • 2004 German D youth champion in water polo
  • 2006 German C youth champion and cup winner in water polo
  • 2006 to 2008 German Water Polo League
  • 2007 bronze medal at the German A youth championship
  • 2008 German B-youth cup winner and German B-youth runner-up in water polo
  • 2007 Alexander Schwarz, Daniel Weiterer, Ilja Immermann , Richard Noack and Vincent Gogoll take part with the German water polo team at the European Summer Olympic Youth Festival in Belgrade ( Serbia ).
  • 2008 With Schwarz, Weiterer, Immermann, Noack and Gogoll, Hellas-1899 represents the largest contingent of the U17 national team in water polo. The first four also play at the European Youth Championship in Belgrade (11th place).
  • 2010 German A youth champion in water polo
  • 2015 Fynn Schütze takes part in the first European games in Baku ( Azerbaijan ) with the German U17 national team.
