Grete Rosenberg
Grete Rosenberg (born October 7, 1896 in Hanover , † February 5, 1979 in Hildesheim ) was a German swimmer .
Career
Grete Rosenberg was a member of the Hanoverian swimming club from 1892 and at the age of 15 she took part in the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm and reached the finals in both competitions for women. In the 100 meter freestyle she took fourth place and was two tenths of a second behind third place, the Briton Jennie Fletcher . The German 4 x 100 meter freestyle relay consisting of Wally Dressel , Louise Otto , Hermine Stindt and Grete Rosenberg crossed the finish line 11.8 seconds after the British Olympic champions, but had a 12.4 second lead over the third-placed Austrians.
In 1913 , Grete Rosenberg won her first German championship title on the 100 meter freestyle course. After a two-year hiatus due to the war, she won seven more titles in a row from 1916 to 1922 .
