2nd Water Polo League East
The 2nd Water Polo League East ( 2. WBLO for short ) is one of the four second highest German leagues in the team sport water polo and thus the foundation of the German Water Polo League (DWL) as well as the highest division in East Germany. It was created in 2006 after a reform of the DWL as the successor to the former Regionalliga Ost. The league is designed for a maximum of twelve clubs and consists of clubs from the five state associations ( Berlin , Brandenburg , Saxony-Anhalt , Thuringia and Saxony ). Clubs from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania currently play in the leagues of the North German Swimming Association .
mode
In the 2018/19 season, ten clubs will play the East German champions in a round-trip round in a "everyone against everyone" mode. The master ( no second substitute ) is also entitled to participate in the relegation tournament to the German Water Polo League (DWL) . The four qualified teams of the four second leagues (north, east, west and south) and the penultimate of the DWL take part in this and play the two places for the following season in the upper house. The question of relegation will only be clarified after the season and is based on any relegated members from the DWL and the number of teams from the subordinate leagues of the five state associations who are willing to climb. The defending champion of the Czech away team from Stepp Praha is not at the start this season.
