Gō Takezō

Gō Takezō ( Japanese : 郷 竹 三 ; * February 23, 1881 in Gifu Prefecture ; † September 2, 1933 ) was a Japanese lieutenant general in the Imperial Army .

Life

Gō Takezō began after attending school an officer training at the Army Officer School (Rikugun Shikan Gakkō) , which he completed in 1902. He then found various uses as an officer in the Imperial Japanese Army (Dai-Nippon Teikoku Rikugun) and later attended the Army College (Rikugun Daigakkō) , which he graduated in 1913. He was then an instructor at the Army Heavy Field Artillery School and, from December 1916, an instructor at the Naval Artillery School. After teaching there for several years, he was commander of the 8th Heavy Field Artillery Regiment between October 14, 1924 and March 2, 1926, and as such was promoted to colonel on December 15, 1924 . From March 2, 1926 to August 10, 1928, he was an officer in the staff of the Artillery Inspection in the General Inspectorate for Military Training and between August 10, 1928 and August 1, 1930, Chief of Staff of the 11th Division (Dai Jūichi Shidan) , the so-called "Brocade Division".

After his promotion to major general on August 1, 1930, Gō was transferred to the artillery inspection and was then between April 11 and December 7, 1932 commander of the 3rd Heavy Field Artillery Brigade. His last position was on December 7, 1932, and held this post until his death from illness on September 2, 1933. On September 8, 1933, he was posthumously promoted to lieutenant general.
