German Short Course Championships 2019
The International German Short Course Championships in 2019 in swimming found on 14 for the fourth time in a row in the to 17 November 2019 swimming and diving center in Europasportpark Berlin instead. The organizer and host was the German Swimming Association . The competition also served as a qualifying competition for the European Short Course Championships 2019 in Glasgow . In addition to six relay competitions, 18 individual titles were awarded for men and women, with Marius Kusch being the most successful athlete of these championships with five titles (2 in individual and 3 in relays). Jessica Steiger and Florian Wellbrock each secured three individual titles . Sarah Köhler provided the sporting highlight with her new world record over 1,500 meters freestyle.

In the open class, only those athletes who achieved the qualification times in the DSV's “best list” in the qualification period were eligible to start on all individual routes. The number of participants was limited to 30 for the “junior evaluation” (born 2001/2002 female and born 2000/2001 male) and “JEM evaluation” (born 2003/2004 female and born 2002/2003 male). The qualification period ran from December 1, 2018 to November 3, 2019. For German athletes with the right to start for foreign clubs or foreign swimmers, the period from December 1, 2018 to October 27, 2019 was valid.
In the relay, the 50 fastest teams were allowed to start on each competition route.
562 swimmers from 156 clubs were registered for 1726 individual starts and 175 relays. With 20 active players, the SG Neukölln Berlin and the Frankfurt swimming community provided the largest national teams. From abroad, five athletes from the Czech Republic started.
Records
Sarah Köhler set a new world record in the 1,500 meter freestyle .
Sarah Köhler and Florian Wellbrock set new German records in the 800 meter freestyle and Isabel Marie Gose in the 400 meter freestyle. The mixed relay of the SG Essen achieved a new German record for club relay over 4 × 50 m freestyle.
