Sören Meissner

Sören Meißner (born February 12, 1990 ) is a German swimming athlete who prefers long freestyle runs in the pool and in open water . He is currently playing for SV Würzburg 05 .

Career

In 2011, the Berliner from Meißner moved from his hometown, where he was swimming in a training group with Britta Steffen under coach Norbert Warnatzsch , to Stefan Lurz in Würzburg . Success soon followed. In 2013 he won the titles over 800 m and over 1500 m both at the German Long Course Championships and on the short course . On the short course he was dethroned by Florian Vogel in 2014 and was runner-up on both routes.

At the German Open Water Championships in 2014 , he finished fourth over 5 kilometers.

The greatest successes of his career he achieved with the mixed relay over 4 × 1.25 km in open water, where he supported the team with a strong performance. At the EM 2018 in Glasgow, the team became vice European champion. A year later, the mixed relay team (2 women and 2 men) won the sensational World Cup in Gwangju (open water competitions in Yeosu).
