Elena Wassen (born November 1, 2000 in Eschweiler ) is a German diver .

Elena Wassen started diving through her sister Christina Wassen, who was two years older than her . With this she prefers to take part in synchronized jumping competitions. Even as a junior she was able to achieve great success, for example when she was five times German C-youth champion in Leipzig in 2013 . In total, she won 34 titles at German junior championships. In that year she also moved from Aachen to Berlin, where she attended a sports boarding school and was trained by Anne-Kathrin Hoffmann at the Berlin TSC . At the Junior World Championships in 2014, Wassen was sixth in both synchronized jumping from the 3-meter board and in high diving. At the Junior European Championships of the year she won the silver medal in both disciplines. In 2015 she repeated her success at the U-19 European Championship at the 2015 European Games in Baku from the tower.

The European Games in Baku also became the first major women's tournament for the then 14-year-old. Surprisingly, she was able to take third place from the tower behind Lois Toulson and Anna Tschuinyschena with 410.40 points and thus won the bronze medal at the first ever European Games. At the 2015 World Swimming Championships in Kazan , Wassen was 24th from the tower, and 15th at the European Championships in Rostock . Wassen is nominated for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro . At the pre-Olympic World Cup in Rio in February 2016 she was 20th. There she was 16 in the preliminary fight with 291.90 points and qualified for the semifinals. There she could not quite confirm her performance with 276.40 points and was eliminated as 17th. In 2018 she was able to win the bronze medal in the 10 m synchronized jumping at the European Swimming Championships .

In 2018, Wassen was the German flag bearer at the opening ceremony of the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires , where she won the silver medal in the mixed team competition with the Chinese Lian Junjie . Before that, Wassen, who was one of the favorites in the jumping, was 12th from the 3-meter board and sixth from the tower.

At the German Championships in 2013, Wassen won the silver medal in synchronized jumping with her sister behind Tina Punzel and Kieu Duong, both at the summer and indoor championships in Berlin and Dresden . Also in 2014 she and her sister won silver in synchronized jumping behind Tina Punzel and Nora Subschinski in Halle (Saale) . In 2015, Wassen won the silver medals from the tower behind Maria Kurjo both in the hall in Berlin and in the open-air pool in Rostock . In 2016 she won her first title from the tower in front of Maria Kurjo in Berlin. At the International German Indoor Championships also in Berlin, the Australian Brittany Broben and Kurjo were ahead of her, with Fränze Jahn she also won bronze in synchronized jumping.
