Simone Sabbioni (born October 3, 1996 in Rimini ) is an Italian swimmer and Olympian (2016).

Career

At the 2014 European Youth Championships in Dordrecht (Netherlands), he won the 50 m back in 25:22 s, setting a new world record in the category.

At the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, Simone Sabbioni won three medals in August.

In May 2016 he took part in the European Swimming Championships in London. Here he won his first two elite medals: bronze in the 100 meter distance (ex aequo with the Greek athlete Apostolos Christou ) and silver in the 4 x 100 relay. He qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

He held the national record over 100 m backwards (54.23 s) until it was improved to 53.94 seconds in April 2018 by then 17-year-old Thomas Ceccon .
