Ilya Leonidowitsch Sakharov ( Russian Илья Леонидович Захаров ; English Ilya Zakharov ; born May 2, 1991 in Leningrad ) is a former Russian water diver . He started both in artificial jumping from the 3 m board and in 10 m tower diving, both in individual and synchronous competitions.

Sakharov has so far won seven medals at European Swimming Championships. The 2011 European Championships in Turin were particularly successful, winning four medals, gold alongside Yevgeny Kuznetsov in the 3 m synchronized jumping and together with Julija Koltunova in the team competition as well as silver in the 3 m artificial jumping and bronze with Viktor Minibajew in the 10 m -Sync jumping.

In 2009 Sakharov took part in a world championship for the first time in Rome . He took tenth place there twice. In 2011 in Shanghai he reached fourth place with Minibajew in the 10-m synchronized jumping and won silver in the 3-m synchronized jumping with Kuznetsov. He was also able to win silver in the individual from the 3-meter board. Sakharov and his compatriot Kuznetsov, who won bronze, were the first jumpers to leave a Chinese behind at the World Cup. At the 2012 Summer Olympics , Sakharov managed to intercept the leading Chinese Qin Kai with his last jump , which brought him the Olympic victory in the 3-meter board competition.

After missing three doping tests , Sakharov was banned for 18 months in 2019. He then announced his immediate resignation.
