Čaba Silađi ( Serbian - Cyrillic Чаба Силађи , Hungarian Csaba Szilágyi ; born August 23, 1990 in Senta , Yugoslavia ) is a Serbian swimmer . He belongs to the Hungarian minority in Vojvodina .

Career

Silađi was runner-up in the 2006 World Youth Swimming Championships as well as the 2006 World Youth Swimming Championships over 50 meters. In 2008 he also won the bronze medal for the 100 meters chest.

In 2007 at the European Short Course Championships in Debrecen , he took part in a major international competition for the first time. There he was over 50 meters chest 24, over 100 meters chest 29 and over 200 meters 34.

In 2008, Silađi was part of the Serbian Olympic team for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing , where he did not get beyond 100 meters chest and finally finished 40th.

He celebrated his greatest international successes to date in 2009 when he won silver over 100 meters and bronze over 50 meters breasts at the Mediterranean Games in Pescara and, on the other hand, when he won bronze over 50 meters breasts at the 2009 Summer Universiade in Belgrade . But the greatest success was probably the bronze medal win over 50 meters chest at the European Short Course Championships in Istanbul in December 2009 .

At the European Swimming Championships in Budapest in 2010 , Silađi reached the semi-finals over 50 meters breast, but was eliminated there in eleventh place. Over 100 meters chest he was eliminated in the preliminary run as 23rd.
