Jan-Philip Glania (born November 8, 1988 in Fulda ) is a German swimming athlete. He is German champion 2012 in 100 m and 200 m back and qualified for the 2012 Olympic Games in London with a German record. For 2012/2013 he was appointed to the A-team of the German Swimming Association.

Personal history

Glania attended the Johannes Hack School from 1996 to 1999 and then until 2008 the Rabanus Maurus School , which he left with the Abitur. From 2008 to 2009 he was in the sports promotion company of the Bundeswehr. From 2009 to 2019 Glania studied dentistry at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main .

Athletic career

Glania has been a member of the German B-team and the Olympic perspective team of the Hessian Sports Association since 2009. In January 2012 he was appointed to the Olympic squad of the German Swimming Association. In October 2012, he was appointed to the DSV's senior squad. Since February 2014 Glania trained under Dave Salo in Los Angeles . In August 2020, he announced that he would end his sporting career for the time being and not participate in the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2021.

  • Numerous finals at the World Cups 2011 in Berlin, Singapore, Beijing and Tokyo with 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th places

  • Appointment to the A-team of the German Swimming Association 2012/2013
