Yannick Käser (born July 3, 1992 in Rheinfelden ) is a Swiss swimmer . His specialty is the 100 m and 200 m breaststroke . He is a multiple Swiss champion, holds several year-old records and holds the Swiss record over 100 m and 200 m breaststroke on the short and long course, as well as with his club, the Limmat Sharks Zurich, over the 4x 100 m individual relay relay.

Career

He made his international debut with the Swiss national team at the European Summer Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Belgrade in 2007 , where he hit 16th in the B final over the 200 m chest. At the age of 16 he won his first race at the Swiss Elite Long Track Championships in 2009 in Oerlikon in a new Swiss record time. In the same year he succeeded in exploiting the 200 m chest race at the European Junior Championships in Prague, in which he finished fourth in a new record time. Only weeks later, he lowered the Swiss record on the occasion of the junior SM again to 2: 14.64. At the 2010 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Singapore, he swam over 200 meters chest with a score of 2: 17.78 in sixth place. In 2011 he set a new Swiss record in the same discipline at the European Short Course Championships in Szczecin with 2: 09.99 min.

Käser took part in the 2012 Olympic Games in London , for which he qualified with a time of 2: 12.09 with his 7th place at the European Championships in Debrecen. There he reached the 24th place with 2: 13.49 and was eliminated in the run-up. From 2012 to 2016 Käser trained at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville . His trainer in Switzerland has been the head coach of the Limmat Sharks Zurich, Dirk Reinicke , since 2011 .

At the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in August , he finished 24th over 100 m breaststroke with 1: 00.71. Over the double distance he finished in a good twentieth in 2: 11.77.

In August 2017 he reached fourth (100 m breaststroke, 1: 00.35) and fifth place (200 m breaststroke, 2: 10.37) at the Summer Universiade in Taipei and set the Swiss record, which is still in place today, in both disciplines.
