Marlen Reusser (born September 20, 1991 in Jegenstorf ) is a Swiss cyclist.
Athletic career
Marlen Reusser began her athletic career during school as a runner; After several operations on the ankle joints, however, she had to give up this sport and switched to swimming and cycling . From the end of the 2000s she competed in brevets and triathlons , among other things . In 2014, at the age of 22, she was the youngest driver to take part in the Alpenbrevet .
In 2017 Marlen Reusser became Swiss champion in the individual time trial and runner-up in the road race. Then she was initially nominated for the time trial at the European Championships in Copenhagen , where she finished 28th, as well as 28th place at the World Championships in Bergen, Norway . In 2018, she had a bad fall at the Kiesen road race and suffered an unstable pelvic ring fracture . Later that year she was nominated for participation in the Road World Championships in Innsbruck, Austria , where she finished 17th in the individual time trial . In 2019 she won the individual time trial at the European Games in Minsk and became a two-time Swiss champion. At the UCI Road World Championships in 2019 , she finished sixth in the individual time trial, and in the road race she finished 34th.
Private
Marlen Reusser grew up in a farming family. Until she was 16 years old she played the violin and studied as part of a support program at the Bern University of the Arts . After graduating from high school, she studied medicine and worked as an assistant doctor for surgery. While preparing for the World Road Championships in Innsbruck, she worked part-time as a doctor at Langnau Hospital.
Political commitment
Marlen Reusser is politically committed to a sustainable and ecological society. From 2008–2009 she was President of the Young Greens of the Canton of Bern. From 2017-2018 she was on the board of the Green Emmental.
