Alpenbrevet

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Since 2003, a Swiss cycling marathon has been held every August under the name Alpenbrevet . The route runs over up to five Alpine passes . The starting and finishing point has been Meiringen (for the bronze tour) in the canton of Bern and Andermatt since 2008 .

route

The bike marathon has three levels of difficulty and, depending on the route, leads over three, four or five passes. The maximum length of the route is 276 km with over 7,000 meters of altitude, which the drivers need between 10 and 15 hours to cover. The Alpenbrevet is extremely difficult due to the altitude distance to be mastered, similar to its Austrian counterpart, the Ötztal Cycle Marathon .

Meiringen (590 m) - Grimsel Pass (2,164 m) - Nufenen Pass (2,476 m) - Biasca (290 m) - Lukmanier Pass (1,965 m) - Oberalp Pass (2,045 m) - Susten Pass (2,224 m) - Meiringen (590 m).

Medal Voralpenbrevet 240 km (1992)

Despite the name Alpen brevet , it is not a bicycle marathon according to the brevet regulations.

In addition to the Alpenbrevet, there is also - independently of this - a Brevet in Eastern Switzerland called the Voralpenbrevet . The current route runs through the Appenzellerland over the Schwägalp and Wildhaus passes with a total of 118 km and 1,800 meters of altitude.
