Jonas Koch (born June 25, 1993 in Schwäbisch Hall ) is a German racing cyclist . He is considered a strong sprint all-rounder.
Career
Between 2012 and 2015, Koch drove for various UCI Continental teams and during this time won the youngsters' rankings in the international stage races Course de la Solidarité Olympique and Tour of Małopolska . His greatest career success up to that point was achieved in 2015 on the first stage of the U23 Nations Cup race Tour de l'Avenir , which he won after a long solo journey with an eleven-second lead over the peloton. At the end of the tour he won the points classification . In the 2015 cycling Bundesliga , he finished second.
He then received a contract with the Polish Professional Continental Team ActiveJet for the 2016 season . For this team he finished fourth overall on the 2016 Tour of the Fjord . After this team closed at the end of the season and Koch initially did not receive a new contract with a UCI team, he first drove with the German national team in the Mallorca Challenge , where he finished ninth at the Trofeo Palma . He then became a member of the Polish CCC Sprandi Polkowice team with effect from March 1, 2017 .
In the 2018 season he was ranked eighth overall in the Tour of Norway and finished ninth in the mass sprint of the UCI WorldTour race Prudential RideLondon & Surrey Classic . After the name sponsor of his team joined the UCI WorldTeam BMC for the 2018 season , Koch's hopes for a contract there were initially not fulfilled and signed back with the Heizomat rad-net.de team, for which he had already been driving in 2015. After he was signed by the CCC team at the turn of the year 2018/19, Heizomat released him from the contract by mutual agreement.
For the CCC team , Koch won the points classification of the Tour of Austria 2019 after top placements in the sprints and the mountain classification of the Tour de La Provence 2020 after a breakaway attempt on the second stage .
