Susanne Ljungskog

Susanne Ljungskog (born March 16, 1976 in Halmstad ) is a former Swedish cyclist . Her competition weight was 57 kilograms with a height of 1.71 meters.

Ljungskog took part in the Olympic Games four times ( 1996 , 2000 , 2004 and 2008 ). Her best placement was tenth in the individual time trial at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing .

At the UCI Road World Championships in 2002 in Zolder, Belgium, she won the road sprint sprint of a top group of four in front of Nicole Brändli and Joane Sommarriba . In 2003 she defended her sprint title in Hamilton, Canada, ahead of Miriam Melchers and Nicole Cooke .

Ljungskog was Swedish champion eight times, including six times in the road race and once in the individual time trial. In 1998 she won the European Championship U23 road and multiply the total votes of the stage race Tour de l'Aude Cycliste Féminin (twice) and Giro della Toscana (three times).

In 2002 she received the Svenska Dagbladet gold medal .

Ljungskog retired in May 2010 from competitive sports. She cited the diagnosis of hemochromatosis (a metabolic disorder, dt .: iron storage disease) as the reason .
