Regina Schleicher
Regina Schleicher (born March 21, 1974 in Würzburg ) is a former German cyclist .
Cycling career
Regina Schleicher grew up in Marktheidenfeld and attended school there. Her father, Hans Schleicher (* 1949), is a cycling trainer and also led her to her first club, the RV Concordia Karbach in Karbach . She also trained as a kindergarten teacher . Her younger sister Andrea was also active in cycling and was a successful Bundesliga team driver for RG Thuringia for several years.
From 1999 to 2004 Regina Schleicher rode for Italian cycling teams . The team's sporting director , Gianluigi Barsottelli, became her partner.
Schleicher has been driving for the Nürnberger Equipe since 2005 and was able to win both the national and world championship titles on the road in the same year . Schleicher was considered one of the world's best sprinters and the best sprinter in her team and in Germany. Her team tried to get her into a promising position with a sprint train - given a favorable tactical starting position. At the World Cup, her teammates practiced this tactic in an exemplary manner in the national jersey and led Regina Schleicher to victory.
In 2008 Schleicher suffered a serious fall after which she could no longer regain her old form. The following year she ended her cycling career after her contract with the Nürnberger Equipe had not been renewed, and was officially bid farewell as part of the race around Nuremberg's old town . In 2010, she resigned from her retirement and drove one more season for the Italian team SC Michela Fanini Record Rox , before finally ending her career.

Regina Schleicher has lived in Tuscany since the early 2000s and has started a family. She is building her own beekeeping there (as of 2016).
