Geneviève Gambillon

Geneviève Gambillon (born June 30, 1951 in Hudimesnil ) is a former French cyclist . She was twice road world champion and was the preeminent French cyclist on track and road in the 1970s.

In 1969 Geneviéve Gambillon won her first three national titles, namely that of French champion in road racing as well as in sprint and single track pursuit . By 1978, 13 other national titles followed in these disciplines.

This unusual series of successes was crowned by Gambillon with two world championship titles in road races, in 1972 in Gap in France and in 1974 in Montréal . In 1975 she became vice world champion again.

In 1978 Geneviève Gambillon retired from cycling and has since worked as a nurse at the Granville Hospital .
