Madeleine Sandig (born August 12, 1983 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a former German cyclist and multiple German champion (2009-2011).

Career

In 1990, at the age of seven, Madeleine Sandig began cycling; she raced both on the track and on the road . In 2003 and 2004 she became vice European champion (youngsters) in the individual time trial on the road, in 2005 European champion (U23).

In 2006 Madeleine Sandig became German champion in the points run on the track. In 2009 she and her team from the Nürnberger Equipe won the team time trial at the Tour de l'Aude . In 2010 she was again German champion in the points race as well as third in the single pursuit and German mountain champion in the cycling race.

At the Olympic Games in London in 2012 Madeleine Sandig was intended as a substitute driver for the team pursuit , but was not used. Although she had successfully contested all qualifications for the Games, she was ultimately preferred to multiple world champion Judith Arndt . In November 2012, Sandig announced her resignation from active cycling out of disappointment with this decision.

On the Easter weekend of 2014, she married her long-term partner, the railway sprinter Maximilian Levy , with whom she has two daughters and a son (as of 2020). The family lives in Cottbus .
