Tanja Erath (born October 7, 1989 in Heilbronn ) is a German cyclist who competes in races on the road and track and was active in triathlon .

Athletic career

Tanja Erath, who comes from a cycling enthusiastic family, began her sporting career with triathlon and was also active in the Bundesliga. For example, she took third place at the Challenge Heilbronn 2011 over the Olympic distance, won the middle distance at the Cologne Triathlon in 2012 and in 2013 at the City Triathlon Cup Germany . In 2016, she had to quit this sport due to chronic pain while running, but stayed with cycling.

First, Erath competed in fixed gear races and finished third in the Red Hook Crit 2017 in Barcelona . Then she started with roller training at the Zwift Academy , where you can compete online with other drivers and the prize is a professional contract. Of over 2100 applicants, ten made it to the semifinals, including Tanja Erath, who won the final in Koblenz and passed her state examination at the same time. For 2018 she got a contract with Team Canyon SRAM Racing .

Tanja Erath was runner-up in scratch at the German track championships in 2018 .

In 2019 she finished fifth in the individual time trial of the German road championships and also came fifth in the overall ranking of the BeNe Ladies Tour . In July, she was in Berlin Velodrome with Charlotte Becker , Franziska Brausse and Lea Lin Teutenberg German champion in the team pursuit .
