Hannah Barnes (born May 4, 1993 in Pembury , Kent ) is a British cyclist who is active in road cycling , on the track and in cyclo-cross races .

Athletic career

Hannah Barnes began cycling at the age of ten. She was a member of the British Cycling Association's talent team for three years . At the beginning of her sporting career, Hannah Barnes mainly drove cyclo- cross races . In 2011 she became British junior champion in the individual time trial . At the national track championships the following year, she was third in the points race and in the single pursuit . In 2014 she won a stage of the Argentine Tour de San Luis and finished eighth overall in the Women's Tour .

In 2015 Barnes won the GP San Luis and two stages of the Tour de San Luis , as well as one stage of the Tour of the Gila . In the same year she won a stage of the Women's Tour and was fifth overall. In 2016 she became British road racing champion . After winning a stage of the Giro d'Italia Femminile in 2017 , she won the Setmana Ciclista Valenciana the following year and became British champion in the individual time trial.

Hannah Barnes should not be confused with the Scottish mountain biker of the same name and is the sister of Alice Barnes .
