Denise Burton

Denise Burton (born January 24, 1956 ) is a former British cyclist .

In 1976 Denise Burton became British road racing champion , ahead of her mother, multiple world champion Beryl Burton . According to an anecdote, Beryl Burton is said to have refused to shake hands with her daughter when she won the British championship. Denise Burton was runner-up three times, in 1973 behind her mother. In 1975 and 1976 she was also British champion in the singles pursuit .

At the UCI Track World Championships in 1975 Denise Burton was third in the singles pursuit. In 1985 she took second place overall at the Tour de l'Aude Cycliste Féminin .

In 1982, daughter and mother set a new British record over ten miles (21 minutes, 25 seconds) on a tandem .
