Jessica Roberts (born April 11, 1999 in Carmarthen ) is a British cyclist who competes on track and road .
Athletic career
Jessica Roberts started cycling with the local Towy Riders club . She trained with a group of clubmates at the Wales National Velodrome in Newport, 120 kilometers away . Although she was a bit scared at first because of the steep curves, she got fun with track cycling. In the same year she won bronze twice at the European Railway Championships , in the Omnium and in the team pursuit . At the European Road Championships she finished fourth in the junior individual time trial . In 2017 she had another hit on the road when she won a stage of the Junior Healthy Aging Tour .
In 2018 Roberts became the British elite team pursuit champion and won two medals at the U23 European Championships on the track. In July of that year, at the age of 19, she became the British road champion. In autumn she won the team pursuit at the Track Cycling World Cup in Berlin together with Katie Archibald , Emily Kay , Laura Kenny and Emily Nelson . In spring 2019, she won two stages of the Tour de Bretagne Féminin .
Jessica Roberts had further successes on the track in 2019: At the European Games , she won gold in the two-man team driving with Megan Barker and silver in the team pursuit with Barker, Jennifer Holl and Josie Knight . She became the U23 European champion in the Omnium and national champion in the team pursuit.
