Emily Kay (born September 7, 1995 in Bromsgrove ) is a British cyclist who competes on road and track .
Athletic career
Emily Kay's interest in cycling was awakened when she dressed in the pink double Olympic champion in the age of five years, a photo mountain biking , Paola Pezzo , looked in a cycling magazine. She started cycling herself, and by 2016 she had won twelve national titles. In 2012 she played a key role in Lucy Garner's victory in the junior women's road race at the road world championships .
In 2013, Kay was Junior World Champion in team pursuit with Amy Hill , Hayley Jones and Emily Nelson ; The team set a new junior world record with 4: 36.147 minutes . In the Omnium, she took third place. Three years later she won the European title of U23 class in the same discipline (with Dannielle Khan , Manon Lloyd and Emily Nelson), in the Omnium she was third. At the first round of the Track Cycling World Cup in Glasgow in 2016/17 , she won the Omnium and the team pursuit (with Eleanor Dickinson , Manon Lloyd, Emily Nelson and Dannielle Khan) by one point over Belgian Lotte Kopecky . At the European Elite Championships, she won silver with Manon Lloyd in the two-man team and bronze in the team pursuit (with Khan, Lloyd and Nelson). At the European Championships 2017 , the British four-man won silver with Kay.
Emily Kay started at the Commonwealth Games and finished third in the scratch ; in the same discipline, she became vice-European champion in 2018 . In the team pursuit, she was successful again when the British four-man won the World Cup in Berlin .
In autumn 2019, Emily Kay switched from the British to the Irish Cycling Federation.
