Lotte Kopecky (born November 10, 1995 in Rumst ) is a Belgian cyclist.
Athletic career
Lotte Kopecky started cycling at the age of nine when her brother competed in cyclo-cross races and she followed his example. This was followed by a visit to a top sports school , where she was able to combine teaching and training. Since cyclo-cross races are not Olympic, she soon concentrated on track and road cycling .
In 2010 Kopecky won her first national title when she became Belgian youth champion in the single pursuit on the track and in the individual time trial on the road. In 2013 she became the European Junior Champion in pursuit and points race .
In 2016 Lotte Kopecky was nominated for the street competitions of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . At the age of 20, she was the youngest starter in the individual time trial as well as in the road race. After a solo trip at the top over 65 kilometers with a temporary advantage of up to four minutes, she finished 45th in the road race; as a result, she was prominently on television for an hour and a half. In the time trial she was 21st. In the same year Kopecky won her first title in the elite when she and Jolien D'hoore won the gold medal in the two-man team event at the European Track Championships, which was held for the first time for women . The following year, the two athletes jointly won the world championship title in this discipline.
In 2018 Kopecky won a stage of the Lotto Belgium Tour and its points evaluation, and in the overall standings she finished third.
