The Hornblende Bluffs are striking, 1050 m high cliffs on the Oates coast of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Wilson Hills they rise 3 km southeast of Mount Ellery near the head end of the Suvorov Glacier .
The northern group of the New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition (1963-1964) named it after the mineral group hornblende (calcium amphiboles), which are contained in the rock of the cliffs.
