Amber Neben (born February 18, 1975 in Irvine , California ) is an American cyclist and three-time world champion.
Career
In 2001 Amber was next US runner-up on the road. In the following years she was one of the top American road drivers. In 2003 she won the national title in road racing and in 2012 in the individual time trial , her specialty.
Successes were achieved in international races, such as victories in 2002 at Gracia Orlová , 2004 at the Tour of the Gila , 2005 and 2006 at the Tour de l'Aude Cycliste Féminin , 2006 and 2007 at the Redland Bicycle Classic and 2007 at the route de France Féminine . At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 , she finished 33rd in the road race. In 2011 she also won the Chrono des Herbiers , a time trial.
In 2006 and 2012 Amber Besides won the individual time trial at the Pan American Championships. In 2008 she became world champion in this discipline, four years later world champion in team time trial. In 2013, she suffered a serious fall on the California Tour in which she broke a hip. It took until the summer of 2015 for her to regain shape and start racing.
In 2016 she also won her second world title in the individual time trial.
