Deirdre "Dede" Demet-Barry (born October 8, 1972 in Milwaukee , Wisconsin ) is a former American cyclist .

In 1989 Deirdre Demet-Barry won three junior titles: She was junior world champion in road racing and national junior champion in road racing and in the individual time trial . In 1993 she was runner-up in the team time trial at the road world championships together with Eve Stephenson , Jeanne Golay and Janice Bolland . In 1996 Demet-Barry was American road racing champion, in 1995 she won the Women's Challenge , in 1997 the Tour de Toona and in 1998 the Australian races Canberra Women's Classic and the Tour de Snowy .

In 2004 Deirdre Demet-Barry started at the Olympic Games in Beijing ; in the individual time trial she won the silver medal and was 16th in the road race. Then she ended her cycling career.

Deirdre Demet-Barry is married to the Canadian cyclist Michael Barry .
