Inga Thompson

Kristin Inga Thompson , married. Thompson-Benedict , (born January 27, 1964 ) is a former American cyclist .

From the mid-1980s to the early 1990s, Inga Thompson was one of the most successful female cyclists in the United States. She was American champion four times, in road racing in 1991 and 1993 and in individual time trials in 1990 and 1991 . She competed three times in road races at the Olympic Games: in 1984 in Los Angeles she finished 21st, 1988 in Seoul eighth and 1992 in Barcelona 26th place. In 1987 she won silver in road racing at the Pan American Games in Indianapolis .

At the UCI Road World Championships in 1990 in Utsunomiya , Japan , Thompson was runner-up in the team time trial , together with Eve Stephenson , Maureen Manley and Phyllis Hines . The following year, at the road world championships in Stuttgart , she was runner-up in the road race, behind Leontien Zijlaard-van Moorsel .

In 1987 Inga Thompson won the Women's Challenge in the USA after finishing third in 1984 and second in 1985, and second again in 1992. In 1986 she was third in the Grande Boucle Féminine . In 1991 and 1992 she finished second in the Tour de l'Aude Cycliste Féminin .
