The US Highway 41 (also US Route 41 or US 41 ) is a Highway , the 3219 km in length of Miami in Florida to Copper Harbor in Michigan runs. The main cities that the highway passes are Tampa , Atlanta , Nashville , Chicago and Milwaukee .

Florida

The highway runs for 771 km from Miami to Jennings on the Georgia border . The section from Miami to Tampa is also known as the Tamiami Trail . The first part of this trail runs west from Miami, crossing the Everglades . From Naples the highway leads north along the west coast of Florida.

Georgia

From the Florida border southeast of Lake Park to the Tennessee border northwest of Indian Springs , the highway runs for 609 km. Up to this point the highway runs parallel to Interstate 75 .

Tennessee

The highway runs 311 km from East Ridge on the Georgia border to the Kentucky border northwest of Adams . To Hopkinsville in Kentucky the highway parallel to the Interstate 24 .

Kentucky

From Guthrie on the border with Tennessee to Henderson on the border with Indiana , which is formed here by the Ohio River , the highway runs for 168 km.

Indiana

The highway runs for 450 km from Evansville on the Kentucky border to Hammond on the Illinois border . In Hammond the shore of Lake Michigan is reached.

Illinois

The highway runs for 104 km from Chicago on the Indiana border to north of Zion on the Wisconsin border . It runs along the west bank of Lake Michigan and shares a common route with Interstate 94 from the height of Zion .

Wisconsin

From the border with Illinois south of Kenosha to Marinette on the border with Michigan , the highway runs for 362 km. As far as Milwaukee , the highway shares the route with Interstate 94 , and then on to Green Bay with Interstate 43 . Only then does the US 41 have its own route again. The bridge over the Menominee River marks the border with Michigan.

Michigan

From Menominee on the Wisconsin border to its northern end point at Copper Harbor on the Keweenaw Peninsula , the highway runs for 449 km.

Branch routes of the US 41

  • As US Highway 241 two former branch lines were designated, which led from Tennessee to Kentucky and from Alabama to Tennessee.
  • A section of today's US 41 from Tampa to Lutz in Florida was designated as US Highway 541 from 1931 to 1951 , before it was extended further north.
