US Highway 69

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The US Highway 69 is a highway of the United States Numbered Highway System . The road begins in Albert Lea , Minnesota and, like most odd numbered US highways, heads south. The highway crosses the states of Iowa , Missouri , Kansas and Oklahoma . US Highway 69 eventually ends in Port Arthur , Texas .

The highway was one of the US highways originally designated in 1927. At that time, however, it only reached from Leon (Iowa) to Kansas City (Missouri) . In 1934 the route of US Highway 65 was changed and parts of its route were assigned to Highway 69. This initially extended this road in the north to Des Moines . In 1935 the current length of the route was then shown.
