The US Highway 80 (short US 80 ) is a United States highway in the United States . The highway originally ran from the Pacific to the Atlantic coast, but was disbanded in 1964 in the states of California , Arizona , New Mexico, and parts of Texas and Alabama . These sections have been replaced by Interstate Highways and State Routes . Today's US 80 begins in Texas between Dallas and Mesquite on Interstate 30 and ends in the small town of Tybee Island in the state of Georgia .
