Jennings is a city in Hamilton County in the US state of Florida with 878 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Jennings is about 15 km northwest of Jasper . Tallahassee is 120 km and Jacksonville 150 km away.

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 878 inhabitants were distributed over 308 households. The population density was 186.8 inh / km². 40.5% of the population identified themselves as whites, 32.2% as African American , 1.6% as Indians and 0.2% as Asian Americans . 20.8% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 4.6% to several ethnic groups. 44.8% of the population was Hispanic or Latino .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 41.9% of all households and persons aged 65 and over lived in 28.1% of all households. 70.8% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 3.31 people and the average family size was 3.86 people.

36.0% of the population were younger than 20 years, 25.6% were 20 to 39 years old, 22.2% were 40 to 59 years old, and 16.2% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 29 years. 53.0% of the population were male and 47.0% were female.

The median annual income was $ 30,865, with 31.2% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 75.32% of the population and Spanish was spoken by 24.68%.

Jennings is crossed by Interstate 75 and US Highway 41 ( SR 25 ). The nearest airports are in Georgia located Valdosta Regional Airport (around 30 km north-west) and the Gainesville Regional Airport (140 km south).

The crime rate in 2010 was 356 points (US average: 266 points) in the average range. There were two robberies, six personal injuries, ten break-ins, 13 thefts and two car thefts.
