White Springs is a city in Hamilton County in the US state of Florida with 777 inhabitants (as of 2010).
geography
White Springs is located on the Suwannee River and around 25 km southeast of Jasper . Big Shoals State Park borders the city to the east . Tallahassee is 120 km and Jacksonville 150 km away.
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the then 777 inhabitants were distributed over 444 households. The population density was 161.9 inh / km². 48.3% of the population identified themselves as white, 48.5% as African American and 0.3% as Asian Americans . 1.7% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.3% to several ethnic groups. 3.3% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 28.5% of all households and persons aged 65 or over lived in 34.4% of all households. 63.5% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.38 people and the average family size was 2.97 people.
26.5% of the population were younger than 20 years, 21.5% were 20 to 39 years old, 26.1% were 40 to 59 years old, and 25.6% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 42 years. 48.4% of the population were male and 51.6% were female.
The median annual income was $ 31,372, with 23.5% of the population living below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the first language of 98.69% of the population and 1.31% spoke Spanish .
